4、 Product Description:
Water treatment resin is divided into cation resin and anion resin, and cation resin is subdivided into sodium type and hydrogen type. Sodium type resin exchanges calcium and magnesium ions in water into sodium ions to soften water. Hydrogen type resin is to exchange calcium and magnesium ions in water into hydrogen ions to soften water. Anion resin contains replaceable hydroxyl ion, which can replace acid ion in effluent. At the same time, anion resin and hydrogen cation resin can change water into pure water. In the water treatment industry, ion exchange is the reaction of the ion in the water and the ion on the ion exchange resin with equal charge.
5、 Application principle:
The removal of inorganic ions dissolved in water is based on the principle of deionization and ion exchange resin. Two kinds of resins are used here - cation exchange resin and anion exchange resin. Cation exchange resin uses hydrogen ion (H +) to exchange cations, while anion exchange resin uses hydroxyl ion (OH -) to exchange anion. Hydrogen ion and hydrogen ion combine with each other to form neutral water.
6、 Physical properties:
The particle size and related physical properties of ion exchange resin have great influence on its work and performance.
1. Resin particle size:
Ion exchange resins are usually made into small beads, and their size is also important. When the resin particles are smaller, the reaction speed is higher, but the resistance of the fine particles to the liquid is larger, which requires higher working pressure; especially for the high viscosity of concentrated sugar solution, this effect is more significant. Therefore, the size of resin particles should be selected properly. If the resin particles are less than 0.2mm (about 70 mesh), the resistance of the fluid will be increased obviously, and the flow rate and production capacity will be reduced. The size of resin particles is usually determined by wet sieving method. The resin is sieved after full water absorption and expansion, and the cumulative amount is 20, 30, 40, 50 The retention of 90% particles in the mesh screen can pass through the corresponding mesh diameter, which is called the "effective particle size" of resin. The effective particle size of most common resin products is between 0.4 and 0.6 mm. The uniformity of resin particles is expressed by uniformity coefficient. It is used to determine the "effective particle size" of the resin, taking 40% of the accumulated retained particles as the corresponding ratio of the sieve pore diameter to the effective particle size. If the effective particle size of a resin (IR-120) is 0.4 ~ 0.6 mm, the retained particles on 20 mesh sieve, 30 mesh sieve and 40 mesh sieve are 18.3%, 41.1% and 31.3% respectively, then the calculated uniformity coefficient is 2.0.
2. Density of resin:
The density of the resin when it is dried is called true density. The weight per unit volume of wet resin (even the space between particles) is called apparent density. The density of the resin is related to its crosslinking degree and the properties of the exchange group. Generally, the density of the resin with high crosslinking degree is higher, the density of strong acid or strong basic resin is higher than that of weak acid or weak base, and the density of macroporous resin is lower.
3. Solubility of resin:
The ion exchange resin shall be insoluble. However, the substances with low polymerization degree and the substances generated by resin decomposition will be dissolved during the operation. The resin with lower crosslinking degree and more active groups has higher dissolution tendency.
4. The expansion of the resin is as follows:
Ion exchange resin contains a large number of hydrophilic groups, which will swell when contacting with water. When the ion exchange in the resin, such as cation resin from H + to Na +, anion resin from Cl - to OH -, will expand due to the increase of ion diameter and increase the volume of resin. Generally, the expansion degree of resin with low crosslinking degree is larger. In the design of ion exchange device, the expansion of resin must be considered to adapt to the change of resin volume caused by ion conversion in resin during production.
5. Durability of resin:
When the resin particles are used, there are changes such as transfer, friction, expansion and shrinkage, and there will be a small amount of loss and breakage after long-term use, so the resin should have high mechanical strength and wear resistance. Generally, the resin with low crosslinking degree is easy to be broken, but the durability of the resin is mainly determined by the uniformity of the crosslinked structure and its strength. For example, macroporous resin with high crosslinking degree has stable structure and can be regenerated repeatedly.
7、 Regeneration treatment:
After the ion exchange resin is used for a period of time, the adsorbed impurities are close to the saturated state, so it needs to be regenerated. The ions and other impurities adsorbed by the resin are eluted with chemicals to recover the original composition and performance. In practice, in order to reduce the regeneration cost, it is necessary to control the amount of regenerant properly, so that the performance of resin can be restored to the most economical and reasonable regeneration level. Resin regeneration should be based on the type of resin, characteristics, as well as the economy of operation, choose the appropriate regenerant and working conditions.
